“I love the way snow settles in layers over fields and hedgerows. Trees and bushes are silhouetted against a pale grey sky. Each branch and twig is lined with snow; black edged with white, creating spectacular lacy effects, with extraordinary textural composition. Latterly I have incorporated translucent icy blues, and I have etched the glass to give it a silky surface to achieve the tactile qualities which are so important to me.” – Peter Layton
