Archive of Unknown Elements: Orbitals

£4,500.00

With a long-held interest with the collection as archive and traces of change through time, Louis Thompson’s work draws inspiration from the aesthetics of taxonomy, scientific research, and medical apparatus. Recent installations explore this theme through sequences of multiple free-blown and solid sculpted objects in which sequenced DNA patterns appear suspended in scientific bottles in a richly-coloured medium. Scientific patterns have inspired these glass objects in which other worldly specimens of an unknown origin appear suspended in a richly coloured medium. These blown and hot sculpted artworks reflect the artist's long standing interest in collections and archive.
