Laura’s fascination for glass as a creative medium stems from its capacity to constantly influence her initial thoughts and expectations. The spontaneity of the hot material demands instant visual judgements that give rise to shifts in ideas, allowing her to make tangible her explorations of volume, scale and the interplay of form and colour. Once cold, the fluidity of her blown object is disrupted by cutting. Polished, angled surfaces create ever-changing effects of light, shadow and reflection, characteristics that she exploits to create an environment of illusion.
